History

In the summer of 1999, Oren, Byron, and David joined up with a friend of theirs, Danny Molad. Molad, who had started playing the drums a year prior, began to practice with the group. Getting together almost every weekend, the group went nameless for their first year. They had a couple of shows in the spring, and resolved to put out an album.

The band entered the studio in the summer of 2000. After recording the seven songs that would comprise their first recording Makes Sense the First Time, the group came to the realization that they would need a name. After a few days of deliberation, the band settled upon the name Predominantly March, stemming from three of the four current members’ birthdays falling in the month of March. After graduation, Byron and Oren parted ways with the other half of Predominantly March’s original line-up. David and Danny headed north for New England, and Byron and Oren west for the University of Texas in Austin.

Once in Austin, Oren and Byron found themselves as the band’s only members. While preparing the cover art for The Night Began Again at an Austin Kinko’s, the two noticed the late night cashier drumming his fingers in rhythm to the store’s satellite music system. Oren and Byron inquired as to if he played the drums. He said that he did, but he wasn’t ready to play in a band. However, he did pass on the number of a friend of his that he said would be a better fit. His friend, Jason McCorvey, was asked to come out for a trial run in October of 2001. Jason turned out to be better than advertised, and the three began to practice weekly. With a new drummer in tow the group began to search for a bass player.

After auditioning about five different bass players, Predominantly March decided to put up flyers around the University of Texas at Austin campus. A week later, they got a call from a bass player named Kyle Eliason. The four played that afternoon, and Kyle was asked back for a final audition before being handed the job. The four then set to work recording a three song demo entitled Flip the Lights On, which was completed in January of 2002.

Today, Oren is a singer-songwriter for the group oren. Danny Molad is the drummer for Lucius, and David Lizmi is a professional bassist.
