Sweet as Candy

Candy Feinstein September 23, 1995-November 9, 2010

Today was a very sad day for the Feinstein family. Candy, the family dog, was laid to rest at 8:30 a.m. this morning. Suffering from old age on top of many other health troubles, the decision to put her to sleep was the necessary and humane thing to do. Candy was a beautiful toy Maltese. She was Donna’s 9th birthday gift. As with any dog, she became an integral part of the Feinstein family and brought a priceless element of happiness and fullness to their lives.

She will be remembered for many things such as going nuts whenever she so much as got a whiff of a hard-boiled egg, or for routinely being spoiled by her big brother, Oren, when he gave her leftover scraps from his dinner each night. Most importantly though, Candy will be remembered for her genuine sweetness. Her name was truly perfect because it defined that sweet little soul that unconditionally loved her owners.

Although I met her in her twilight years, she no doubt enchanted me and became my friend. I want to thank her for bringing so much happiness to the family I married into. If it weren’t for her, they may all be different people from who they are today and I love them exactly for who they are. It’s always difficult to say goodbye to a family member, especially one as endearing and ever-present as this little one. But Candy will live on in our hearts and our stories for a long time to come. You really can’t ask for anything more from a dog. We hope she is at ease now and running around with other dogs in doggie heaven. We love you Candy, rest in peace.
